District Judge Curtis DeLapp has chosen a replacement for Special Judge John Gerkin.  Jared Sigler has accepted the position of Washington County Special Judge and will officially take the bench on January 3rd.   Sigler serves the citizens of Washington County as First Assistant District Attorney for the 11th Judicial District and has held that position since January 2011.

Prior to coming to our community, Sigler worked in private practice at Chesbro & Sigler, PLC and served as an assistant district attorney in the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office.  He practiced in the areas of criminal law both prosecution and defense, domestic/family law, juvenile delinquency/deprived and expungements.  Sigler has conducted numerous felony jury trials in Washington , Nowata and Tulsa Counties since he was admitted to the practice of law in May 2001.  He is originally from Vinita.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Oklahoma State University in 1998 and was awarded a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2001.

Judge DeLapp says he reviewed a number of resumes from several very qualified applicants and discussed the position requirements with other judges.  He says Jared Sigler’s experience and public service made him the right person to be the new special judge.
