Governor Fallin Considers Special Session for Teacher Pay Raise

Governor Mary Fallin announced today that the $140.8 million initially cut from agency allocations midyear can now be allocated.

Governor Fallin says she has talked with legislative leaders to consider holding a special session to address the issue of teacher pay raises. Governor Fallin also says she supports teacher pay raises, and even though it was a difficult budget year, she asks again for lawmakers to act.

The money is available because General Revenue Fund allocation reductions required by the Fiscal Year 2016’s midyear revenue failure was deeper than necessary. Without a special session, the $140.8 million would be distributed equally among all agencies receiving general revenue allocations.
