The Washington County School Supply Drive is preparing to “Pack the Backpacks” on Monday, August 8th at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Students from Bartlesville, Dewey, Caney Valley, Copan, Osage Hills, and Bowring will be able to pickup a backpack filled with supplies personalized for their corresponding grades. The WCSSD requests that you give a small donation of five dollars when you come pick up a backpack, but anything you can spare is appreciated.

Although the time to pickup backpacks is quickly approaching, the deadline to sign up for a backpack is not until this Saturday. Parents can grab an application and sign their children up for backpacks at CONCERN on Penn avenue from 11 to 2:45 Tuesday through Thursday, the Agape Mission on Bucy avenue from 11 to 1:45 Tuesday through Saturday, and the Mary Martha Outreach from 9 to 11 am on Wednesday and 12 to 2 on Thursday.

Washington County School Supply Drive Vice President Carol Beck speaks on personalizing the backpacks.

The WCSSD is still accepting school supplies and backpacks, but they are asking for cash donations so that leftover funds can be used for next years drive. As far as supplies, wide and college Rule paper and spiral notebooks are still needed.

Volunteers are needed to help pack backpacks on August 6th and 7th, as well as the 8th and 9th to help distribute backpacks. If you would like to sign up to volunteer or want more information about the program, visit packthebackpacks.org.
