Bartlesville Mayor Tom Gorman says he intends to run for re-election.  Gorman made the announcement Tuesday.  Gorman says if he wins election in November and if the city council is inclined to re-appoint him as mayor he would be willing to serve in the office.

Gorman says he has been involved in several activities that he calls critical to Bartlesville's continued success.  They include budgeting with an eye to future years, not just the current fiscal year; budgeting reasonable fiscal reserves to provide stability to city operations; planning and implementing systems for stability for city retiree payments, supporting private property-owner's rights to use their land for to the highest and best use legally allowed; and attending meetings at the state and Federal level for the benefit of the city.

Gorman calls the economy his top municipal issue for the coming term.  He also sees a long-term water supply as an important planning issue.

Gorman is a life-long Ward 3 resident.  He says his experience in business and on the city council qualifies him for continued service on the council.  The filing period for city council elections opens late in August.
