Students, parents, teachers, and a group called Yes for SQ 779 are going to the State Capitol tomorrow morning. The group plans to express frustration at what it calls “stall tactics” used by the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, or the OCPA Impact, that will delay efforts to boost school funding and teacher pay in Oklahoma.

According to the OCPA Think, Perspective, May 2015 Issue, the OCPA writes “No Matter what aspect of education is being debated, activists generally finds the solution is more school spending. This is the most widely held myth about education in America.”

However, Dave Bonds from OCPA Impact says the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs and the OCPA Impact are separate groups, and his group wants to give teachers a $5,000 pay raise.

Bonds says his group is the only group advocating for a teacher pay raise.

The Yes for SQ 779 group will meet Friday, June 24th at ten in the morning at the Oklahoma State Capitol.
