The Bartlesville City Council will hear a proposal from incoming Bartlesville Superintendent Chuck McCauley this evening at 5:30. McCauley will request that council members transfer possession of Doenges Memorial Stadium to the School District.

The stadium, built in 1932, has not had an official baseball team since 1952. Doenges Memorial Stadium already hosts BHS baseball games eight months out of the year, but is still considered a shared facility for American legion baseball and other events.

This recently prompted the school district to consider building their own stadium. Community development director Lisa Beeman explained how she has worked with the school district for a compromise.

Using Doenges Memorial Stadium, rather than building a new stadium, could potentially save taxpayers millions of dollars.
