Senator John Ford joined State Representatives Earl Sears and Travis Dunlap Friday morning on KWON's Capital Call. Representatives Sears and Dunlap outlined the budget process, tax increases and reforms, while Ford focused on education.

Ford discussed how the Teacher Leader Effectiveness Bill, recently passed by Governor Mary Fallin, will aid in teacher development.

Ford went on to mention a separate bill which is in the process of getting passed. The proposed bill would remove end of year testing from the state curriculum, and allow the state to determine high-school graduation requirements.

The bill would also allow state departments to decide which assessments to administer to students, and may make it possible for students to take the ACT for free. Ford supports the bill, and explained how it could help improve school districts.

Senator Ford and other House members will continue to meet until their deadline next Friday afternoon at 5 o'clock.
