Bartlesville’s Jane Phillips Medical Center has again been recognized by the Certified Healthy Oklahoma Program. The statewide certification showcases organizations and communities that are committed to fostering environments that support healthy choices. JPMC earned the “Excellence” level certification.
Manager of Wellness Services at Jane Phillips, Dawn Lundwall says the hospital’s staff worked extremely hard to achieve the honor.  She says earning the highest certification possible is a direct result of a focused, team approach to health and wellness as an employer and as a community leader.”
Businesses are scored according to the number of employees and rated on nine broad criteria such as health education, tobacco use prevention, nutrition, and community leadership. Within each of the nine categories there are a number of standards that are measured for a total of 77 criteria.
Some of the reasons JPMC earned the top certification as a Certified Health Business include:

•        Free screenings and preventative programs to our employees,
•        A webpage devoted to healthy living
•        On-site fitness center
•        Group exercise classes
•        Promotes tobacco use prevention via 1-800-QUIT-NOW and has a tobacco-free campus.
•        Cafeteria promotes healthier menu items with pricing strategies
•        Onsite disease management programs such as Diabetes Prevention and Non-surgical
Weight Loss programs.
•        Hospital leadership supports a healthy and safe workplace by allowing for reimbursement of gym membership dues, providing space for breastfeeding mothers, having a wellness committee in place, and a wellness policy that supports healthy nutrition and physical activity during the workday

Representatives from the hospital will be honored during an awards luncheon sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Health on March 2nd in Norman.
