Benefiel Bond Set at 250,000

Associate District Judge Russell Vaclaw set a 250 thousand dollar bond on 23 year-old Kyle James Benefiel of Copan Tuesday afternoon.  Benefiel is charged with the felony of making threats to kill and with assault and battery on a police officer.  Court documents show Benefiel allegedly planned a mass shooting at Copan Public Schools.  When he police questioned him Benefiel allegedly hit Washington County Deputy Margina Solomon.

Judge Vaclaw also set as a condition of his bond, that Benefiel stay at least one-thousand feet from Copan Public Schools and that he cannot own or possess a firearm.  Benefiel is now due back in court December 18th.  Judge Vaclaw told Benefiel that if he needed one, that he should apply for a court-appointed attorney so that one would be able to represent him at that time.
