Voter turnout in Bartlesville for Wednesday' special election appears to have exceeded the votes from the election in 2013. The Washington County Election Board finished their count of 14 of 14 precincts just before 8:30 P.M. City Council's request for an increase of 4/10 of a cent to the city sales tax passed with 1780 YES votes and 1171 NO votes. An extension to the ¼ cent economic sales tax was also approved with 1987 YES votes and 969 NO votes. Mike Wilt, Citizens for City Progress chairman, said he's pleased.

Wilt said people responding to the message that it's time to have enough confidence in ourselves to invest in our selves is what helped the vote pass.
