The Osage Ballet troupe will make a journey to Philadelphia later this month to accept a special honor. The troupe is the only Native American group chosen to perform at the World Meeting of Families on September 26 at the Festival of Families to be attended by Pope Francis. Osage Ballet Director Randy Tinker-Smith said that the Osage people have a long history with the Catholic Church first documented in 1673.

The Osage Ballet will be joined by a special performer, Roman Jasinski.

Tinker-Smith said the troupe will travel by bus. They have received financial support from the Arts & Humanities Council of Tulsa to help pay for the trip. If you'd like to help out with a donation, visit
