Talent Awarded at County Fair

Talent show winners took home $750 in cash prizes plus ribbons at the opening night of the Washington County Free Fair.  Thirteen competitors were divided into 3 classes for the event – first through fourth grade, fifth through eighth grade, and high school. 

In the elementary division, 3rd-grader, Silas Zepeda received the third-place ribbon for his performance of “We Fall Down”, 2nd-grader Nora Pu took home the second place ribbon for her rendition of “A Cookie for a Snip”, and 2nd-grader Emma Zhang took home the first-place ribbon for her performance of “My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music.

In the junior division, 8-th grader Stone Yang received a 3rd-place prize of $50 for singing “All I Need is the Girl” from the musical Gypsy.  5th-grader Kaylee Morris won the 2nd-place prize of $75 for her piano performance of “Shooting the Rapids”.  7th-grader Camden Cotner won the first-place prize of $100 for her performance of the song “On My Own”, from Les Miserables.

The senior division saw 12th-grade student Luis Balli won the 3rd-place prize of $75 for his rendition of “The Ballad of Mona Lisa”.  11th-grader, Josie Zepeda received a $100 second-place prize for performance of the song “You Lie”.  The $300 first place prize went to 10th-grade student Anna Pennington for her song, “Part of Your World”.

Sponsors for the talent show included American Heritage Bank, the Market in Dewey, UniPro, Jerrico Tile & Stone Outfitters, and Bambino’s Downtown Bistro.  This was the sixth year for the talent show at the fair.
